Environmental Outlook

We’ve planted 200 trees in the Yarra Yarra biodiversity corridor, WA.

Vokke is fundamentally committed to improving, offsetting and limiting the impact that the company has on the environment. For this reason, Vokke has engaged with an award-winning carbon solution provider to offset the majority of the carbon emissions we produced in 2019. We’ve achieved this by planting 200 native trees in Western Australia, offsetting roughly 20 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e) emissions. This is a tangible way to make a difference, and an action that will last into future generations.

Vokke has commissioned the planting of 200 native trees in the Yarra Yarra biodiversity corridor in Western Australia, which are predominantly drought-tolerant eucalypts and woody-stemmed Acacias. These plants are local to the area, and therefore not only help sequester carbon but also enhance local biodiversity and restore the habitat of native animals. Below are some picture of this beautiful, natural environment.

How is carbon offset by tree planting?

Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store the carbon in their bark, stems, leaves, trunks and roots. All measurements that estimate carbon storage are performed using techniques approved by the international Gold Standard Foundation.

What if there is a fire?

While the trees are planted with natural firebreaks and separations, each tree is also protected with fire insurance which allows for trees to be restored if they are burnt or damaged.

What is protecting the trees from being cut down?

The trees are protected by a 100 year Carbon Right and Carbon Covenant which makes it illegal to chop them down within a given period.
